Foster and Kinship Care Education Institute: Indian Child Welfare Act
This training explains the role of the Judicial Council of California Tribal/State Programs Unit and Tribes. Our presenter provides historical information on tribes, policies and the trauma realized by these populations and how we can help Native Americans heal. She further explains the Indian Child Welfare Act, and how it affects placement and permanency for Native American children. Lastly, practical tips for working with the Native American population and resources are provided.
This course is specific to policies and processes for California and is not available to users outside of California.

the Department
of Child & Family Studies in the College of Behavioral and Community
Sciences at the
