Representing Children in KEIS:
Determining Educational Decision-Making Authority (Kentucky Only)

This training explores critical policies and procedures for supporting children in Kentucky’s Early Intervention System (KEIS) when custody or living situations are uncertain. Participants will learn that KEIS must identify who has educational decision-making authority for a child, identify qualified individuals to serve as educational surrogate parents if natural parents are unable to serve in this role, and understand the rights and responsibilities associated with this role. This training equips learners with the tools to ensure every child receives appropriate advocacy and support, regardless of their legal or familial circumstances.
This content within this course is specific to policies and processes for Kentucky users
and is not available to users outside of Kentucky.
