Self-Care for Foster Parents:
Healing When Helping Hurts
Helping children heal from abuse or neglect is rewarding but hard. Like the children in their care, resource parents often feel overwhelmed by strong feelings and are unsure how to take care of themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. During this training, participants will explore the following objectives: 1. Why is self-care essential? 2. How does my child’s trauma affect me? 3. What are some tips for parenting children who have been traumatized? 4. The barriers to good self-care. 5. The road to good self-care.
