Substance-Exposed Newborns: Selected Topics

In this training you will learn about substance exposure in newborns including how it happens, what substances may be involved, and why it’s important to be aware of substance exposure in newborns. Participants will also learn about neonatal abstinence syndrome including what it is, how it happens, what it looks like, how it’s handled in the hospital, and how it’s handled in the foster home. You will also learn ways to help the baby be more comfortable when it is brought home, as well as long-term and short-term effects substance-exposed babies go through.
