Course overview
Working with the System: Supporting ASD Students that are in School
(Kentucky Only)
Having a medical diagnosis of Autism does not automatically make one eligible for services within the school system, nor is a medical diagnosis required to receive services. There is a referral process that can be initiated by anyone who suspects a student has a disability. To qualify for a 504, a student must have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. To qualify for an Individual Education Program (IEP), the students must have a disability that negatively impacts their access to the education curriculum that requires specially designed instruction.
This content within this course is specific to policies and processes for Kentucky users and is not available to users outside of Kentucky.
